Building Physical Literacy Capacity Workshop @ TBD

This two-day, interactive workshop created by Sport for Life and delivered by Dr. Dawne Clark is designed to provide an increased understanding of physical literacy development in young children (0 to 6 years).

After completing the workshop, you will be able to:
1. Define physical literacy and the five principles
2. Describe the relationship between brain development
and physical literacy
3. Describe how relationships, environment, activities,
and equipment can support physical literacy
development in young children
4. Provide physical literacy mentorship to others

Please note: This event is intended for: Childcare Staff, Early Childhood Educators and Supervisors, Teachers, Recreation Providers, School Board Administrators, coaches, sport administrators and anyone who works with children in the early years.

STOP on the Road Workshop @ TBDHU | Thunder Bay | Ontario | Canada

Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients (STOP) workshops are offered throughout Ontario and the TBDHU provides these workshops at regular intervals in the communities throughout the Thunder Bay District. It delivers smoking cessation treatment and counselling to eligible smokers who wish to quit smoking. The research-based program helps improve quitting success by providing:

  • A two-three hour educational workshop to provide coping tools
  • A five-week course of nicotine patches

This workshop will be offered once on this day and is 2-3 hrs in length.

  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and symptoms
  • Birth control prescription
  • Pregnancy testing and Therapeutic Abortion referrals
  • PAP testing

Nurse Visits

This clinic is for walk-ins to see a sexual health clinic nurse. Walk-in hours start at 8:30 am and are taken until 3:30 pm or until capacity has been reached.

Clinic Services:

  • STI testing (no symptoms) & treatment
  • Birth control purchase (with prescription from Health Unit doctor or nurse practitioner)
  • Pregnancy testing and prenatal referrals
  • Emergency contraceptive pill
  • Anonymous HIV testing
